Introducing Marqly: GPSR compliance built by a Shopify entrepreneur, for Shopify entrepreneurs.

Published 16 July 2026 by Marqly. Informational only, not legal advice.

Why I built this

I run Shopify stores. When GPSR became applicable in December 2024, it landed on my desk the way it probably landed on yours: one more regulation, a hard deadline, and no obvious way to get it done without burning a weekend. So I went looking for an app. What I mostly found was enterprise pricing, settings screens that assumed I had a compliance department, and a "Powered by" badge stitched onto my product page in return for the privilege of paying.

So I built the thing I actually wanted. Marqly has no forced "Powered by" branding on any plan, free or paid. Your storefront stays yours. The features that keep you covered are available on the free plan, not held back to force an upgrade. And the writing, in the app and here, is plain. You can read the plans on the pricing page; I am not going to bury the point that matters inside a comparison table.

That is the whole idea: the tool a Shopify seller would build for other Shopify sellers, without the theatre.

What GPSR actually is

Short version. GPSR is the EU General Product Safety Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2023/988. It has applied since 13 December 2024, with no grace period for new products.

The part that touches your product page is Article 19. Before an EU consumer can buy, the listing has to show the manufacturer's identity and a postal and email address, an EU responsible person where the manufacturer sits outside the EU, a product identifier (type, model, or a reference such as a GTIN), and any warnings or safety information that apply. Article 19(d) adds the catch that trips up a lot of stores: the safety and warning text has to be in the language of the country where you are selling. French for France, Polish for Poland. Browser auto-translate does not count.

If you want the long read, we wrote a plain-English GPSR guide that goes through it article by article.

What Marqly does

Marqly is the operational layer. It takes the details you already know and puts them where they need to be.

On the storefront, it adds a GPSR safety block to the product page: manufacturer, EU responsible person, importer, product identifier, warnings and safety instructions. That block shows only to EU and EEA visitors, in their own language, so a shopper in Ohio sees your normal page and a shopper in Lyon sees the safety panel in French. It ships in 26 European languages: all 24 official EU languages plus Icelandic and Norwegian.

Inside the app, the goal is to stop you retyping the same details a thousand times:

  • Reusable operator records. Enter each manufacturer, importer and responsible person once, then reuse them across the catalog. Change an address in one place and every product page picks it up.
  • A warning-template library. Around 80 templates sourced from EU legislation (CLP, Toy Safety, Battery and more), ready to attach to the products that need them.
  • A per-product compliance score with a missing-field breakdown, so you can see which SKUs are short a manufacturer, an identifier or a warning.
  • Bulk edit with AI suggestions. Filter by collection, vendor or tag and apply details to hundreds of products at once. The AI can generate and translate the text you are missing, and you review every suggestion before it publishes.
  • A theme-aware App Embed widget. It installs into Online Store 2.0 themes, and you can reposition it and set the font family and size from the theme editor so it matches the rest of your page.
  • A missing-data audit, CSV import and export, and EU-only display rules.

None of this is clever. It is the boring, repetitive part of compliance, done once and kept in sync as your catalog changes.

Where the responsibility sits

Let me be clear about what Marqly is and is not. Marqly renders the information you give it. You are the economic operator responsible for your products under GPSR, and the accuracy of what appears on your pages is yours to own. Marqly is a tool, not legal advice, and it is not affiliated with the European Commission. If you are unsure whether you count as a manufacturer or an importer, which warnings apply to your category, or who can act as your EU responsible person, talk to qualified counsel. Getting that question right is usually a lot cheaper than getting it wrong.

Getting started

If you sell to the EU, this information has to be on your pages either way. Marqly makes it quick and keeps it consistent. It is free to start, with no card and no forced branding.

Install Marqly from the Shopify App Store, skim the full feature list, or compare the plans. Then get back to selling.
